Pelosi Statement on Veterans Day

Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement commemorating Veterans Day:

"Each year, Veterans Day brings our nation together in gratitude for the patriotism, courage and selfless service of our military heroes. Throughout our history, generations of brave Americans have proudly donned the uniform to defend the liberties we all hold dear – fighting valiantly for Democracy in our nation and throughout the world.

"Honoring the service of these warriors has long been and must always be a unifying mission – a priority that transcends party and politics. This summer, with great respect for their sacrifice, the Congress passed and President Biden signed the PACT Act. Made possible by the passionate advocacy of veterans, families and caregivers, this monumental achievement is protecting the health of those who fought to protect us – expanding access to care for as many as 3.5 million Servicemembers. It is with great pride that House Democrats also secured vital housing support for veterans through our American Rescue Plan, and we will continue fighting to strengthen life-saving mental health services with the House-passed STRONG Veterans Act.

"On this day, and every day, let us renew our resolve to build a future worthy of our veterans' sacrifice. All Americans share in a sacred obligation: just as the military leaves no one behind on the battlefield, we must leave no veteran behind when they come home."
