Red District Front Pages Praise Democrats’ Job-Creating Infrastructure Bill
GOP Under Attack on the Homefront for Pro-Pothole, Anti-Jobs Vote
From the Speaker's Press Office:
Local papers in red districts continue to celebrate President Biden and Democrats' plan to create millions of good-paying jobs and rebuild the middle class by rebuilding America's infrastructure. With Democrats historically popular infrastructure bill generating local headlines like, "Joblessness drops, more federal cash on the way," the 200 House Republicans who blindly put party above their constituents are either hiding from their districts or lying to cover their tracks.
Their cowardice makes sense when you look at some of the provisions Republicans voted against:
- an almost $70 billion investment in rail service and almost $20 billion for port infrastructure that will deliver a world-class supply chain to growing American businesses,
- $65 billion to expand broadband across rural America,
- the single largest dedicated bridge investment since the construction of the interstate highway system itself,
- the largest investment in clean drinking water and waste water infrastructure in American history, replacing lead pipes and delivering clean water to millions of families,
- And millions of good-paying, union jobs.
Outside the beltway, small town papers have been covering the enormous investments in their communities nonstop – while attacking the GOP's blind party allegiance to more potholes and fewer jobs. See below for another round of broadsides against the GOP and praise for Democrats' bill:
