Pelosi Announces Additional Committee Assignment for Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick
Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced today that the House Democratic Steering & Policy Committee has recommended that Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick serve on the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
"Throughout her first year in the House, Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick has been a relentless voice for justice, both at home and abroad," Speaker Nancy Pelosi said. "From her outspoken leadership regarding the crisis in Haiti to the valuable insight she brought to our Congressional delegation at the Summit of the Americas, Congresswoman Cherfilus-McCormick has already contributed to House Democrats' smart, effective foreign policy. Bringing her skill and passion to the House Foreign Affairs Committee, she will continue to help power our mission to advance justice, democracy and human rights around the globe."
The recommendation will now go to the full Democratic Caucus for approval.
