Pelosi Remarks at House Democratic Leadership Photo Opportunity

Washington, D.C. – Speaker-designate Nancy Pelosi delivered these remarks during a photo spray of the newly-elected House Democratic Leadership.  Below are the Leader's remarks:

Leader Pelosi.   This is a beautiful leadership team gathered on the 50th anniversary of Shirley Chisholm being sworn in as the first African American woman in the Congress.  There is a ceremony in Brooklyn today to honor that.  So appropriate that we have this beautiful, diverse leadership team.  How proud I think she would be to see the diversity.  There is also, this weekend is the hundredth anniversary of, the hundredth birthday of Nelson Mandela, beautiful contribution to the world.

But here we are to say hello to you, to show off our leadership team and to say let the transition begin.
