Pelosi Statement on CCSF’s Accreditation Approval

January 13, 2017
Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today after ACCJC announced its decision to reaffirm accreditation for seven years for the City College of San Francisco:

"Today is a triumphant day for the City College of San Francisco: the cloud of accreditation and uncertainty has been lifted.  CCSF's academic credentials have never been in doubt, and with this news the doors of this bedrock institution will remain open for thousands of San Franciscans looking to pursue a higher education, job training and lifetime learning.

"This victory could not have been possible without the hard work and unwavering dedication of the students, faculty, staff, administration, trustees of CCSF; the unflinching dedication of the San Francisco's representatives in City Hall, Sacramento and Washington; and the passionate advocacy for the college throughout the Bay Area.

"The saga of these last few years has raised serious concerns regarding fairness, transparency, and due process in the accreditation process and these lessons learned will guide our efforts as Congress considers legislation regarding the Higher Education Act."
