Speaker Pelosi Offers Remarks on the House Floor in Support of The Build Back Better Act

Today, House Democrats took an important step forward on the Build Back Better Act, which delivers once-in-a-generation action to lower the everyday costs that burden working families – from health care to child care and more – and is fully paid for by making big corporations and the wealthiest pay their fair share. This bill negotiates lower drug costs for seniors, halts Big Pharma's outrageous price hikes above inflation and expands the ACA to make coverage more affordable for those who buy insurance on their own. In addition, the Build Back Better Act expands the basic promise of free schooling in America for the first time in 100 years with universal pre-school. It slashes families' child care costs, extends the landmark Biden Child Tax Credit and expands access to affordable home care for older adults and those with disabilities. The Build Back Better Act is also the largest investment to combat climate crisis in history by cutting pollution, reducing energy costs and creating good-paying jobs with a transformational investment to ensure America leads the clean energy economy. It also lowers costs and fights inflation because it is fully paid for by making big corporations and the wealthiest pay their fair share. No one making under $400,000 will pay a penny more in taxes.
