Pelosi Statement on Introduction of the Me Too Congress Act
"The introduction of the Me Too Congress Act is a vital first step to protect all in our legislative community from harassment and discrimination, and to foster a climate of respect and dignity in the Congress, with zero tolerance for discrimination or abuse of any kind. Congresswoman Jackie Speier, Congressman Bob Brady and Congressman Ted Deutch are to be commended for working across the aisle to bring this bill to the Floor and to guarantee that no survivor who seeks to end the nightmare of discrimination or harassment is forced to face the injustice of having his or her voice silenced.
"Over the coming months, we will continue to work with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and others on a path forward to improve private sector workplace protections. As Members of Congress, we have a responsibility to build on this progress to ensure that every person in every workplace has full protections against harassment and discrimination. We must ensure that every woman and man facing workplace abuses has the resources needed to come forward, and the support they need to recover.
"During this watershed moment, we must all keep up the drumbeat of energy and activism to end the scourges of discrimination and sexual harassment."
