Pelosi Announces Caucus Rules Changes

December 1, 2016
Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi announced that the House Democratic Caucus approved proposed rule changes that expand Leadership with new positions for a Freshman Member elected by the Freshman class and for a Member of five terms or fewer elected by the whole Caucus.  The Caucus also enacted rule changes to create three elected co-chairs of the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee, and to elect the Chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

"Today, House Democrats approved a number of rule changes with my support to expand the Leadership and provide for the elections of several positions," said Leader Pelosi.  "We have approved the creation of new elected leadership positions for a Freshman Member and a Member of five terms or fewer, and also provided for elections for the Chairman of the DCCC and three co-chairs of DPCC."

"The vital efforts of the leaders in these positions will be strengthened by the mandate of their colleagues, and I am eager to partner with them to tackle the work before our country and our caucus," Leader Pelosi continued.  "I especially commend Chairman Joe Crowley for his sterling leadership managing the debate in our Caucus today. House Democrats look forward to further discussions of the amendment to create Vice Ranking Members for our Committees."
