Pelosi Statement on the Nomination of Gov. Rick Perry for Energy Secretary

"In Governor Rick Perry, a person who wants to eliminate the Department he's been picked to lead, President-elect Trump has nominated yet another champion of the special interests.  The Secretary's decisions must be evidence-based.  Governor Perry is an anti-science, climate change denier nominated to fill a critical cabinet post most recently held by two physicists, including a Nobel laureate.

"The Energy Secretary must confront some of the most pressing issues facing our country, including nuclear non-proliferation, the climate crisis and clean energy jobs.  America cannot afford someone who has a long history of putting special interests before the health and safety of families.

"With only a handful of nominations left, it is clear the Trump Cabinet will be a Cabinet of and for the special interests, not hard-working Americans."
