January 24, 2017
Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi today announced the appointment of Congressman Joe Kennedy of Massachusetts to serve on the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Board of Trustees.  This year, the Kennedy Center joins many institutions and individuals across the country in marking the centennial of President Kennedy's birth.

"The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is a premiere venue for America's performing arts and stands as a living memorial to President Kennedy," House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi said.  "As a board member, Congressman Joe Kennedy will carry forward his family's enduring legacy and work to continue the Kennedy Center's efforts to champion the arts, arts education and arts advocacy for all Americans."  In this centennial year, the Center is including the enduring ideals of President Kennedy – courage, freedom, justice, service, and gratitude – into programming and outreach.

The Kennedy Center Board includes members appointed by the President of the United States and members ex officio designated by an Act of Congress.
