Pelosi Statement on New Report on Impacts of GOP’s Partial Repeal Plan for ACA

December 7, 2016
Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement on the Urban Institute's new report detailing the consequences of Republicans' plan to partially repeal the Affordable Care Act through the budget reconciliation process:

"After years of the GOP's fevered, fact-free crusade against the Affordable Care Act, Republicans' repeal plan will have cold, hard consequences for millions of Americans.

"Even partially repealing the ACA through reconciliation would more than double the ranks of the uninsured to almost 60 million Americans and dump more than a trillion dollars in costs onto states, localities and providers.  Working families will bear the brunt of Republicans' blind contempt for the Affordable Care Act, and more than four million additional children will be left uninsured.

"Before any effort at repeal, Republicans owe it to the American people to present an alternative in concrete legislative language that can be scored by the CBO for coverage, cost, and quality of care.  Repealing the Affordable Care Act will create a crisis in the lives of tens of millions of American families, and Republicans will be held accountable for the consequences."
