Pelosi Statement on Bilateral Meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett
Jerusalem – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement after a bilateral meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.
"Today, when our Congressional delegation met with Prime Minister Naftali Bennett in Jerusalem, we engaged in a wide-ranging discussion regarding how our nations can advance security cooperation, common economic interests and shared democratic values.
"Our conversation focused on the dynamics of a new governing coalition in Israel, achieving enduring security and stability, the threat posed by a nuclear Iran, combatting the COVID-19 pandemic and the climate crisis. Our delegation conveyed Congress' continued support for a two-state solution that enhances the security of Israel and the stability of the region.
"This meeting is a continuation of a day of dialogue with Israeli leaders: President Isaac Herzog, Speaker ‘Mickey' Levy, Foreign Minister Yair Lapid and Defense Minister Benny Gantz.
"On behalf of our Congressional delegation, we thank our partners in Israel for their hospitality and friendship. As we travel to Germany for the Munich Security Conference, our delegation will bring the Congress' unwavering commitment to our transatlantic alliance and our shared interests and values."
