Pelosi Announces Departure of Long-Time Aide & Senior Advisor Michael Bloom

February 6, 2017
Washington, D.C. – Today, Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi announced the departure of long-time aide and Senior Advisor Michael Bloom.  After rising to the rank of Deputy Policy Director under Speaker Pelosi, Bloom has served as a trusted senior counselor on a portfolio including intergovernmental affairs, Member services, and the work of the Steering and Policy Committee.

"For almost 12 years, Michael Bloom's astute, strategic judgement has strengthened my office and the House Democratic Caucus," said Leader Pelosi.  "Across a wide portfolio of issues and responsibilities, Michael has provided expertise and insight.  Michael is a trusted and beloved resource for our Members, and we will sorely miss his wise counsel and good humor in the battles ahead.  While we are sad to see Michael go, we wish him, his wife Michelle and their delightful daughter all the best in their next chapter together."

"Michael Bloom has been an invaluable resource for House Democrats, bringing a smart and levelheaded approach to our Caucus for more than a decade.  Working alongside me on the Steering and Policy Committee, Michael has truly helped shape the future of this institution and the work we can accomplish for the American people," said Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro, Co-Chair of the Steering and Policy Committee.  "Though I am sad to see him leave, Michael has the determination and vision to succeed in anything he takes on, and I wish him the best for what is next."

Bloom, a San Francisco-native, joined Pelosi's leadership office in July 2005.  He departs for the private sector.
