Pelosi Statement on the Persian New Year

Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement in celebration of Nowruz, the Persian New Year:

"Today, Iranian Americans and millions around the globe celebrate Nowruz and the promise of a new year. Arriving amid the warmth of spring, Norwuz offers a moment to reflect on the progress of the past year while drawing hope for all that still lies ahead.

"As we welcome this season of renewal, we recognize Iranian Americans' innumerable contributions in California and across the nation. From enriching our culture to blazing trails as leaders in communities, businesses and public service, generations of Iranian Americans have proudly made America more American.

"For thousands of years, Nowruz has been a time to gather with loved ones and joyfully face all that the future may bring. As our nation continues to recover from the pandemic, let us join with our Iranian American friends and neighbors in praying for health, peace and prosperity in this new year. May all who celebrate today be blessed with the love of family and friends. Nowruz Mobarak!"
