Pelosi Announces Appointment of Joseph C. Picolla as House Inspector General
Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that Joseph C. Picolla will serve as the next Inspector General of the United States House of Representatives. Picolla currently serves as Deputy Inspector General of the House and has served in the Office of the Inspector General of the House since 2008. Before starting on Capitol Hill, Picolla spent twenty years in the private sector serving in various risk management, technology and operation roles.
"As the next Inspector General of the United States House of Representatives, Joe Picolla will be a champion of integrity, transparency and accountability," Speaker Nancy Pelosi said. "The Inspector General is a crucial defender of the People's House: rooting out waste, fraud and abuse so that the Congress can meet the needs of the American people. After his fourteen years of service in the House Inspector General's Office – most recently as Deputy Inspector General – Joe is deeply experienced and widely respected on both sides of the aisle. He also brings to this post two decades of technical knowledge and valuable insight from the private sector."

The Office of the Inspector General was created in the 102nd Congress under the House Administrative Reform Resolution of 1992. Each Congress, the Inspector General is jointly appointed by the Speaker, the Majority Leader and the Minority Leader.
