Pelosi Announces Additional Committee Assignments for Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur and Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia

Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced today that the House Democratic Steering & Policy Committee has recommended that Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur serve on the House Agriculture Committee and that Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia serve on the House Armed Services Committee.

"Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur is a respected voice for forward-thinking, sustainable agriculture policy," Speaker Pelosi said. "Raised by the owners of a small grocery store, she recognizes that supporting local farmers is key to sparking economic opportunity, strengthening communities and safeguarding Americans' health. The working families of northern Ohio and the nation will be well-served by Congresswoman Kaptur's advocacy on the House Agriculture Committee."

"Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia has been a defender of democratic values throughout her time in the House," Speaker Pelosi continued. "Amid surging threats to democratic institutions around the globe, she will bring important insight and passion to the House Armed Services Committee. Our Servicemembers and their families will have a devoted advocate in Congresswoman Garcia as she works to secure the resources they need to defend our freedoms."

The nominations will now go to the full Democratic Caucus for approval.
