Pelosi Statement on Senate Passage of Ukraine Supplemental

Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued this statement after the Senate passed the $40.1 billion supplemental funding bill to support Ukraine:

"Today is a victory for Democracy in the world as the Senate follows the House's lead to pass the more than $40 billion supplemental funding bill for Ukraine. This funding will make an immediate and substantial difference in Ukraine's fight to defend its people, its sovereignty, its nation and Democracy against Putin's accelerating brutality.

"Nearly three weeks ago, when our distinguished Congressional delegation visited Kyiv, President Zelenskyy conveyed his gratitude for American support and made it clear that more was needed. When Congress returned to session, the House passed the $40 billion package. Now, with the Senate's passage, we can proudly say: more is on the way.

"The Unites States Congress, together with President Biden, is proud to stand with the people of Ukraine in the fight for Democracy over dictatorship, as we have with actions including securing appropriations for assistance, enacting Lend-Lease, passing ‘seize and freeze,' and taking action to punish and hold Russia accountable. We will continue to do what is needed, until victory is won. Slava Ukraini!"
