The GOP's Failing Tax Scam

More bad news for Republicans and their GOP tax scam…

According to a new CBS poll, more than 60 percent of American voters say the GOP tax scam will either have a negative impact or no effect at all on their families.

And despite Republicans' best efforts to sell their deficit-exploding GOP tax scam – which mortgages the future of seniors and working families in order to hand massive tax breaks to Wall Street, pharmaceutical companies, corporations shipping jobs overseas and the wealthiest 1 percent – their talking points are collapsing right before the eyes of the American people.

The Washington Post reports that while the GOP wants to chalk up everything going right in the economy to the tax scam, the facts prove otherwise:

The latest dent landed Monday in what Republicans hoped would provide them armor in a hostile midterm environment. In a survey of business leaders for the Institute for Supply Management's semiannual forecast, a third reported they will boost capital spending over the next year — just the sort of investment that GOP tax-writers are eager to tout. But of that group of executives, only one in seven with factories identified the tax overhaul as the catalyst.

Republicans are offering the American people a raw deal – taking every opportunity to stack the deck for the wealthy and well-connected against hard-working American families and seniors.

The GOP tax scam ultimately raises taxes on 86 million middle class families and explodes the deficit by an additional $2 trillion, thereby endangering Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.  Democrats are fighting for real, bipartisan tax reform that puts the middle class first, responsibly reduces the deficit, and creates more good-paying jobs.
