Pelosi Announces Additional Committee Assignments
Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced today that the House Democratic Steering & Policy Committee has recommended that Congressman Scott Peters serve on the House Committee on Small Business, that Congresswoman Sharice Davids serve on the House Agriculture Committee and that Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick serve on the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.
"Congressman Scott Peters recognizes that small businesses are the engines of our economy – keeping our communities prosperous, vibrant and competitive," Speaker Pelosi said. "From San Diego City Hall to the United States Capitol, he has dutifully worked to create the level playing field that small businesses need to thrive. San Diego's hardworking entrepreneurs will be well-served by his advocacy on the House Committee on Small Business."
"Throughout her service in the House, Congresswoman Sharice Davids has been a strong advocate for Kansas farmers and families," Speaker Pelosi continued. "As a member of the House Agriculture Committee, she will be a force for food security and economic opportunity. Congresswoman Davids will ensure that working Kansans have a voice at the decision-making table as House Democrats continue our fight to support farmers, strengthen supply chains and bring down food costs."
"Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick has hit the ground running during her first months in the House," Speaker Pelosi continued. "Her constituents have benefited from her tireless advocacy on behalf of South Florida students, workers and veterans. Bringing her passion to the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, she will continue to be a key voice for upgrading our nation's infrastructure and advancing justice in Florida communities."
The recommendations will now go to the full Democratic Caucus for approval.
