Trump in Wisconsin, What You Should Know

June 28, 2018
Blog Post
Today, President Trump is in Speaker Ryan's Wisconsin district attending a closed-door fundraiser and touting the GOP tax scam for the rich at the groundbreaking of a new facility owned by Foxconn, a multinational company headquartered in Taiwan... just days after Harley Davidson, an American company headquartered a mere thirty miles away in Milwaukee, announced they would be shifting motorcycle manufacturing overseas.

Will he mention to Wisconsin workers what he told Members of Congress on Tuesday about Foxconn needing foreign workers to fill the jobs being created in Mount Pleasant? Will he continue to attack Harley Davidson without mentioning the company is utilizing the benefits built into the GOP tax scam to move American jobs overseas?

Below are some of the cruel consequences of the Trump-Republican agenda for Wisconsinites:

  • 2.5 million: Wisconsinites who have pre-existing conditions currently protected by law that are jeopardized by the Trump Administration's demand that the courts to strike down protections for pre-existing conditions.
  • 416,600: Wisconsinites that would have lost health coverage by 2026 under the GOP House-passed Trumpcare bill.
  • 223,500: Wisconsinites with Medicaid would have lost health coverage under Trumpcare.
  • 10,838: Wisconsinites workers would have lost their jobs by 2022 under Trumpcare.
  • 7,600: Veterans in Wisconsinites that would have lost their Medicaid coverage under Trumpcare.
  • $17,060: More for premiums Wisconsinites could pay for coverage if they are pregnant under Trumpcare.
  • $140,510: More for premiums Wisconsinites could pay for coverage if they have metastatic cancer under Trumpcare.
  • $8,707: More older Wisconsinites would have to pay because Trumpcare would allow insurers to charge people over age 50 five times more.

From health care, to taxes, to good-paying jobs, to critical consumer protections President Trump and the GOP Congress are giving the American people a raw deal.

Families in Wisconsin and in every corner of the country deserve better.  That's why Democrats are fighting for A Better Deal: Better Jobs, Better Wages, and a Better Future for everyone.
