On CNN's New Day, Leader Pelosi to Trump: Where's Your Jobs Bill?
She also highlighted the urgent need for an outside, independent commission to get the facts on the ties between the Trump Administration and Russia and questioned why the President and House Republicans want to stand in the way of the truth.
Below are the highlights.
On Republicans' Glaring Lack of Progress to Create Jobs and Improve Infrastructure:
"They have the majority of the House. They have the majority of the Senate. They have the White House. Any day of the week."
"Where's you jobs bill? It's six months into your term, you've been elected eight months in November – where is your jobs bill? That's what the election was about, about the future. Now all we're talking about is Donald Trump."
"From what I hear from the Republicans, there hasn't been very much progress, but he should be meeting with all of us if he wants to make progress. There's some anti-government elements in the House, in the Congress, that are never going to be for anything unless it's so bad and would be very harmful to the American people."
On the Need for an Outside, Independent Commission to Investigate Trump-Russia Ties:
"This is beyond politics. Russia investigation is beyond politics. With the latest revelations you can see this is undermining our democracy, our electoral system. … The hacking, the altering, maybe, and the dumping undermined our election. We should have an outside, independent commission to study what that is."
"I think it's important for the American people to know – what did Russians have on Donald Trump politically, financially and personally that he is standing in the way of this legitimate investigation as to Russian impact on our election?"
"The American people have a right to know the truth. Why would Republicans stand in the way of the truth? Why can't we see his tax returns?"
On Trump's Purposeful Sabotage of the Affordable Care Act:
"The Affordable Care Act is the law of the land. The President should be honoring the law of the land and funding it. He is sabotaging it. He shouldn't be doing that. The most important thing that we can do is to make sure that the bill that the Republicans passed in the House does not become the law of the land because 23 million people would lose their health insurance, premiums would go up and benefits would go down."
"We could have certainty in terms of the funding of the Affordable Care Act which the President has placed in doubt. When it's in doubt, the insurance companies say we don't know how to set our rates or we have to set them higher because we don't know if we'll have the cost sharing."
"Any bill that is passed in Congress – Civil Rights Act, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security – all of it should be subjected to scrutiny as to how it can be done better. If it's being sabotaged, that's at his doorstep. If the rates go up, that's at his doorstep, because he has not obeyed the law of the land."
On Trump's Tweets on His Immoral Travel Ban:
"I think, frankly, what he's talking about is disregard for the Constitution. This is what the courts are about. This is about the balance of power."
