POLITICO/Morning Consult Poll: Majority of Americans Reject Republican Anti-Vax Politics
From the Speaker's Press Office
Republicans sided with the virus over the millions of Americans working hard to reopen schools safely, return to work, and save lives – and the American people are pushing back hard.
New POLITICO/Morning Consult polling shows that a majority of Americans support the public health measures being instituted to fight the virus – and blame the elected officials spreading anti-vax propaganda.
A majority of voters support mandatory coronavirus vaccines and indoor mask-wearing requirements, according to a new Morning Consult/POLITICO poll that shows opposition to the requirements is chiefly limited to Republicans. The survey also found that about half of all voters blame the new wave of infections that have sent numbers spiking equally on the unvaccinated and on political leaders opposed to mask-wearing and social-distancing mandates.
House Republicans voted unanimously against putting shots in arms, people back in jobs, and kids back in school.
Now they're spreading anti-vaccine, anti-science propaganda that's endangering lives as health leaders in Trump-won states plead with them to support measures to keep Americans safe:
"It is heartbreaking honestly to take care of potentially dying children," said Kline [Physician-In-Chief of Children's Hospital of New Orleans]. "All of this was likely unnecessary if we as adults did what we needed to do and get the vaccine. We could have protected these children."
Here's a look at the anti-vax politics coming from every corner of the House Republican Conference:
Twitter on Tuesday suspended Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, Republican of Georgia, from its service for seven days after she posted that the Food and Drug Administration should not give the coronavirus vaccines full approval and that the vaccines were "failing."
