#RyanTownHall Fact Check: 7 Months of GOP Failure

"There are so many things we've actually done in the House that people just don't know about." – Speaker Ryan on Trumpcare at his CNN Town Hall tonight

The truth is: Since taking control of the White House, House and Senate, Republicans have not lifted a finger to create jobs and grow wages.  Instead, Republicans in Congress have only attempted to roll back policies and vital protections improving the lives of hard-working American families.

Here are the first 7 months of the 115th Republican Congress by the numbers:

ZERO: Number of significant legislative achievements during the first seven months of a House, Senate, and White House all controlled by Republicans

ZERO: Number of bills to create jobs brought to the House Floor by House Republican Leadership

233: Republicans voted to gut the Dodd-Frank Act's Wall Street reforms, roll back key consumer protections and take us back to the pre-2008 era of unchecked, risky financial market abuses that resulted in the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression

100: Percent of Republicans voted against preventing Department of Defense funding to be used to build President Trump's border wall

217: Republicans voted for the disastrous Trumpcare bill, which results in 23 million Americans losing their health insurance coverage, raises out-of-pocket health care costs for millions of American families, imposes a crushing age tax on those ages 50-64, shortens the life of the Medicare Trust Fund, guts the protections for people with pre-existing conditions, and defunds Planned Parenthood for a year

99: Percent of Republicans voted to block a vote on a bill to strengthen working families and the economy by ensuring access to paid sick leave

22-32 million: Americans would lose health coverage under the various iterations of Trumpcare, according CBO

230: Republicans blocked a vote on a resolution to demand answers on the Trump Administration's sprawling conflicts of interest and gross abuses of public trust

Democrats in Congress vow to offer hard-working Americans A Better Deal and continue the fight to raise wages, create good-paying jobs, lower the costs of living for families and build an economy that gives hard-working Americans the tools to succeed in the 21st century.  It's past time for Republicans to do the same.
