Pelosi Statement on Biden Administration Precision Strikes in Syria

San Francisco – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued this statement after U.S. Central Command announced precision airstrikes against Iranian-backed groups in Deir ez-Zor Syria:

"Yesterday's airstrikes in Syria were a necessary, proportionate measure to defend U.S. personnel, following two brutal attacks on August 15th by militant groups affiliated with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

"The strikes send a clear message to America's adversaries that the United States will protect the American people. The United States does not seek conflict, and our actions will always be precise, deliberate and designed to reduce the risk of escalation.

"Thanks to President Biden and our national security professionals, America's defense capabilities remain unmatched and our determination to defend our people remains unwavering."
