Pelosi Statement on Partial CBO Score of Graham-Cassidy Trumpcare, Senator Collins’ Opposition

September 25, 2017
Washington, D.C. — Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement after the CBO released its partial assessment of Graham-Cassidy Trumpcare's impacts on the federal budget and Senator Susan Collins of Maine came out in opposition to the legislation:

"The CBO's partial analysis already shows that millions of Americans will lose health coverage and a trillion dollars will be stolen from Medicaid, inflicting deep damage to seniors, veterans and rural communities across America.

"Even this preliminary CBO analysis exposes Graham-Cassidy Trumpcare as the same monstrosity that the American people have rejected again and again.  It will devastate Americans with pre-existing conditions, rural communities who will lose hospitals and jobs, and the millions of people who will be pushed off their health coverage.

"Now, Senator Susan Collins has once again bravely come forward to oppose Trumpcare.  We hope that her principled opposition will encourage Republicans to set aside Trumpcare and rejoin Democrats for constructive bipartisan conversations to improve and update the Affordable Care Act.  Until then, Democrats will keep up the heat to defeat Trumpcare."
