Pelosi Names Appointees to Cyberspace Solarium Commission
"It is my great privilege to name two dynamic, determined and forward-looking leaders, Rep. Jim Langevin and Former Rep. Patrick Murphy, to the Cyberspace Solarium Commission," said Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi. "As one of the leading voices on Cyber issues in Congress as well as the Ranking Member on the Armed Services Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities, Congressman Langevin offers unique insight and critical knowledge of the tools necessary to combat the growing cyberthreat. As a dedicated public servant and former Under Secretary of the Army, Congressman Murphy's defense and intelligence expertise will be an invaluable addition to this important new commission. Together, they will help defend the security of the American people, while also ensuring that we are ready to utilize the ever-evolving arena of cyberspace to fuel American prosperity into the 21st Century."
The Cyberspace Solarium Commission was established by the National Defense Authorization Act of 2019 and is tasked with developing a unified, strategic response to the numerous challenges that cyberspace presents as well as the abundant opportunities it affords. As envisioned, the work of the Commission will bring the United states closer to achieving our goal of effectively deterring future attacks, increasing coordination between government agencies and developing expertise to promote American interests in cyberspace.
"Cyberspace is the future, and will grow even more important in driving American leadership and innovation in the years to come," continued Leader Pelosi. "Guided by Rep. Langevin and Former Rep. Murphy, this Commission will be a vital tool in keeping America safe, strong and free."
