Pelosi Statement on the Retirement of Congresswoman Susan Davis

September 4, 2019

San Francisco – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued this statement on the retirement of Congresswoman Susan Davis of California:

"Congresswoman Susan Davis is a spectacular Member of Congress and a significant leader in our country. As a Senior Member of the Armed Services Committee and of the Education and Labor Committee, she is a Chairwoman who deeply understands that America's strength is measured not only in military might, but also in the health, education and well-being of the American people. Her patriotic, persistent leadership on the Committee on House Administration to ensure clean, fair elections has helped protect the sacred right of all Americans to have their voices heard at the ballot box and in our democracy.

"Chairwoman Davis came to the Congress committed to fighting for America's children. Her two decades in Congress have made a significant difference for countless families in San Diego, the state of California and the country. Her leadership will be soundly missed in the United States Congress. All her colleagues in the Congress look forward to continuing to benefit from her leadership for the next year and a half, and her legacy for years to come.

"We thank her husband Steven and her family for sharing Congresswoman Davis with the Congress and the country, and wish them the best in all their future endeavors."
