Trump in Montana, What You Should Know

September 6, 2018
Blog Post
Tonight, President Trump is heading to Billings, Montana to hold another one of his campaign rallies.

He will likely attack the press and perhaps those that work at the White House too, go on and on about "draining the swamp" even though all evidence points to the contrary, and defend his SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

What won't he mention?  The ongoing GOP court battle to attack health care coverage for 130 million Americans with pre-existing conditions.  (Let's not forget that just last year in Montana, former GOP House Candidate Greg Gianforte body-slammed a reporter when asked a question about Trumpcare's assault on people with pre-existing conditions.)

The Deflector-in-Chief will once again try his best to distract from some of the cruel consequences of the Trump-Republican agenda for Montanans:

  • 426,000: Montanans who have pre-existing conditions currently protected by law that are jeopardized by the Trump Administration's demand that the courts to strike down protections for pre-existing conditions.
  • 79,700: Montanans that would have lost health coverage by 2026 under the GOP House-passed Trumpcare bill.
  • 25,800: Montanans with Medicaid would have lost health coverage under Trumpcare.
  • 16,956: Montana workers would have lost their jobs by 2022 under Trumpcare.
  • 1,100: Veterans in Montana that would have lost their Medicaid coverage under Trumpcare.
  • $4,230: More for premiums a family of four in Montana could pay for coverage in 2019 due to GOP's ACA sabotage.
  • $17,060: More for premiums Montanans could pay for coverage if they are pregnant under Trumpcare.
  • $140,510: More for premiums Montanans could pay for coverage if they have metastatic cancer under Trumpcare.
  • $12,146: More older Montanans would have to pay because Trumpcare would allow insurers to charge people over age 50 five times more.

Across the board, President Trump and the GOP Congress are giving the American people a raw deal.  Families in Montana and in every corner of the country deserve better.  That's why Democrats are fighting for the people.
