Re: Action on Immigration is Long Overdue

The American people know our immigration system is broken and overwhelmingly support bipartisan, common sense comprehensive reform. Yet Speaker Boehner and GOP leaders in Congress only offer broken promises and lame excuses for inaction. The Republican record is clear:

Days since Speaker Boehner said he was "confident" about acting on immigration reform: over 740.

Days since the Senate overwhelmingly passed bipartisan comprehensive immigration reform: over 500.

Days since the House GOP abandoned its immigration principles: over285.

Number of times Speaker Boehner said he would act on immigration: over 10.

Number of times Speaker Boehner and House GOP killed immigration reform: over 8.

Number of times House Republicans voted to deport our nation's DREAMers: over 3.

Number of times House Republicans voted to block bipartisan comprehensive immigration reform: over 5.

Number of business, law enforcement, faith-based and advocacy organizations urging immediate action on immigration: over 600.

Number of REPUBLICAN presidents who've exercised their executive authority on immigration: 6.

Number of editorials from across the country that have called for action and an end to the GOP excuses: Dozens.

Number of legal experts who've said President Obama has the executive authority to take action: 136.

Number of cosponsors on House Democrats' comprehensive, bipartisan immigration legislation: 200.

Deficit reduction amount if comprehensive immigration reform is enacted into law: nearly $1 trillion.

Actions speak louder than works, Speaker Boehner. If you really want to fix the broken immigration system, bring the bipartisan comprehensive immigration reform to the floor for a vote – or get out of the way when the President takes courageous steps to lead.
