BREAKING: 16.4 Million Uninsured Americans Gain Health Insurance Thanks to ACA!

#ACAisWorking for the American people, and Republicans should pay attention to these critical facts provided by HHS:

  • 16.4 million uninsured people have gained health insurance coverage since enactment of the ACA – including 14.1 million adults who have gained coverage since the beginning of open enrollment in October 2013, plus 2.3 million young adults who have gained coverage under a parent's plan since 2010.

  • Among Whites, the uninsured rate has declined by 5.3 percentage points – resulting in 6.6 million securing coverage, since October 2013.

  • Among African Americans, the uninsured rate has declined by 9.2 percentage points – resulting in 2.3 million obtaining health care, since October 2013.

  • Among Latinos, the uninsured rate has dropped by 12.3 percentage points – resulting in 4.2 million gaining insurance, since October 2013.

  • Health insurance coverage gains were especially strong in Medicaid expansion states and were concentrated among low and middle income populations.
