BREAKING: While Republicans Continue to ‘Bay at the Moon’ Over ACA Repeal, House Democrats Are United
- REPEALING and undermining the Affordable Care Act for the 56th time TODAY:
o RAISING the taxes on millions of middle class families by eliminating their premium tax credits.
o ELIMINATING the coverage of 19 million uninsured Americans who will be covered in 2015 due to ACA, according to CBO.
o RAISING the costs of prescription drugs for 8.2 million seniors who have saved more than $11.5 billion on their Rx drugs since 2010.
o RAISING the costs of preventive services for millions of seniors in Medicare, as well as millions of Americans with private insurance.
o REDUCING the solvency of the Medicare Trust Fund by 13 years.
o ELIMINATING provisions that hold insurance companies accountable for double-digit premium increases.
o ELIMINATING PEACE OF MIND FOR 129 million Americans with pre-existing conditions who no longer have to worry about being denied coverage due to their health status.
House Democrats stood united against this GOP attack on Americans' health security. Instead of bringing bills to the House Floor that create jobs, strengthen the middle class, and ensure bigger paychecks, the GOP brings this phony messaging bill that also includes unenforceable "instructions" for House Committees to report a GOP alternative to the ACA, with no deadline for them to do so – the same "instructions" passed in January 2011. And yet, four years later, Republicans have not offered any legislation that satisfies these instructions. AsDemocratic Leader Nancy Pelosisaid: "Republicans continued to bay at the moon. They're baying at the moon [with] something that is not going to work…instead of proposing…good suggestions they may have to improve the Affordable Care Act, they're baying at the moon [for the] 56th time."
