Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell earlier today at a press conference said that immigration reform has absolutely no chance of happening in "this Congress."

McConnell just killed any thought that there'll be immigration legislation…"Not this Congress."

He's not singing the same tune as Speaker Boehner who last month said:

I don't think there's that big of a difference in terms of how to reform our immigration laws.  There's been a lot of bipartisan work done on this for years.  I want to do it.

It's been over two years since the Senate overwhelmingly passed bipartisan comprehensive immigration reform only to join a stack of other ignored national priorities in the Republican-led House.  And then last year, many GOP Members vowed again to get it done under this Republican Congress.

But the American people can see right through this façade: when Congressional Republicans say 'no' to immigration reform, they mean more deportations that separate families unnecessarily.  And instead of doing what the American people sent them here to do, solve our country's problems, Congressional Republicans prefer to pander to their extreme right wing.

The American people need to stop listening to Speaker Boehner's empty promises and listen to Leader McConnell speak the truth: Congressional Republicans have absolutely no interest in passing comprehensive immigration reform.  The American people deserve better.
