October 14, 2009
A new poll released by CBS News reaffirms strong support for inclusion of a public option and underscores the urgency felt by Americans for health insurance reform. 84% believe the health care system needs fundamental changes at the very least, and 61% said they would be disappointed if Congress does not pass health care reform this year. The poll also found 62% of Americans support the inclusion of a public health insurance option like Medicare in health insurance reform legislation:
In addition, more than half (52%) believe Democrats are serious about wanting to reform the health care system but nearly 7 in 10 believe Republicans are not serious about wanting reform.
