Come On, Mr. Speaker...

Yesterday, on This Week with Christiane Amanpour, Speaker Boehner continued his strong defense of millionaires and billionaires, responding to the wealthiest Americans paying their fair share with: "Come on."

Come on, Mr. Speaker:

65 percent of Americans say it would be fair to raise taxes on those making one million dollars or more per year.

According to the IRS, almost 1,500 of our country's millionaires did not pay any income tax in 2009.

Come on, Mr. Speaker:

As the clock ticks down for the Supercommittee to reach an agreement, "…the greatest sticking point is Republican unwillingness to accept the reality, fiscal and political, that new tax revenue must be part of any deal…" [Washington Post, 11/5]

House Democrats support a deficit reduction plan that is big, bold, and balanced, that places job creation and small businesses at the center, and where all Americans pay their fair share. It's time for Speaker Boehner and the GOP to come on.
