'Dysfunctional and Ineffective'
October 2, 2015
"A lot of people look at us as being dysfunctional and ineffective." – House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers.
Why on Earth would Americans think that? Maybe it's…
- The 151 Republicans who voted to shut down the government for the second time in three years;
- The leadership melodrama that looks more like reality TV than serious governing;
- The so-called "Select Committees" to waste taxpayer dollars on brazen political smear campaigns;
- The bullying of a woman professional at a hearing to assault women's health services;
- The intraparty bickering and elbow throwing;
- The obsessive and futile attacks on a law that's providing health security to millions;
- The refusal to re-authorize a Bank that is vital to American workers and businesses;
…just to name a few.
It's safe to say that a simple "change of rules" won't change America's perception of House Republicans. The American people know that GOP dysfunction and ineffectiveness are real – because they pay the price for it every day.
