The ‘Family Values Party’ Moves to Continue Breaking Up Families
June 11, 2014
House Republicans in the Appropriations Committee today squandered yet another opportunity to show that they're on the side of America's immigrant families. Instead, the overwhelming majority voted for splitting families. From POLITICO:
"The House Appropriations Committee narrowly rejected a Democratic bid Wednesday to slow the deportation of undocumented immigrants who have lived in this country for years and are the parents of young children recognized as permanent residents or U.S. citizens."
Every day, we witness the torment that many families experience from the 1,100 deportations that occur daily. House Republicans sell themselves as the party of family values yet continue to stand idly by as many law-abiding immigrant families are needlessly separated. When will they learn and heed the call of the majorityofAmericans who are clamoring for comprehensive reform to fix our broken immigration system?
