#FlashbackFriday: Ryan Calls Failing to Enact a Budget a 'Historic Failure'

Speaker Ryan and the House GOP blew past the statutory deadline for Congress to enact a budget.  Instead of coming together with Democrats to pass a budget resolution that will create jobs and grow the paychecks of hard-working American families, Republicans decided not to pass one at all.

Before their disastrous failure, however, this is how Speaker Ryan sounded:

CONGRESSMAN RYAN IN 2011:

Failing to enact a budget is "a historic failure to fulfill one of the most basic responsibilities of governing."  And, punting the budget "is not leadership, that's an abdication of leadership."

CONGRESSMAN RYAN IN 2012:

Failing to enact a budget "has serious consequences for Americans families."

CONGRESSMAN RYAN IN 2013:

"If either house fails to pass a budget, its members' pay will be withheld."

And after proposing the disastrous Ryan Budgets in 2014 and 2015, this is whatSPEAKER RYAN IN 2016 said:

"We're doing a budget early this year…"

Yeah, about that.
