#FlashbackFriday: "the most thoroughly debated piece of legislation"
Seven years ago, Bill Kristol on Fox News called the Affordable Care Act "the most thoroughly debated piece of legislation in my memory in Washington." In debating the Affordable Care Act, the House held 79 bipartisan hearings and markups over the span of two years. And the Senate Finance Committee spent 8 days marking it up – the longest markup in 22 years.
Yet, after 7 years of attacking the Affordable Care Act with no plan to replace it, last night at a CNN town hall, House Speaker Paul Ryan said that Republicans will magically replace the ACA "definitely within these first 100 days."
The American people deserve to know what Republicans' plan is before their health care and economic security is decimated by a repeal of the Affordable Care Act – a repeal that will Make America Sick Again.
