House Republicans Continue Proliferating Dysfunction & Obstruction
House Republicans yet again show their true colors on immigration. After Speaker Boehner caved to the extreme right wing of his party and killed immigration reform, today he added another chapter to his anti-immigration saga. When asked if House Republicans will challenge the President's executive actions on immigration in their preposterous lawsuit, Boehner replied:
"Yes, we are." [GOP Press Conference, 7/9]
One thing is inescapable: the absurd challenge to the President's courageous and legal actions granting relief to the aspiring Americans we affectionately call "DREAMers," further cements in the minds of the American public House Republicans' penchant for scoring political points at the expense of our country's progress.
Rather than focusing their energies on passing a bipartisan comprehensive immigration reform bill that grows our economy, creates jobs, and cuts the deficit by nearly $1 trillion, House Republicans pursue taxpayer-funded, politically-driven dead-ends, and, in the process, show their hostility to immigrants, who have for generations made our country great and prosperous. When will they end their obstructionism, their dysfunction and their do-nothing, partisan stunts?
