House Republicans: Let’s Deport Them All & Jeopardize Our National Security
"Rather than building upon the President's bold move to keep families together, House Republicans have decided to threaten a partial government shutdown and play politics with the security of our homeland by appeasing the anti-immigrant and extreme right-wing of their Party. As the risk of terrorism rises, this perilous Republican tactic sends the worst possible message at a very dangerous time."***
When it comes to fixing our broken immigration system, see how they plan to respond to President Obama's bold immigration executive action. From POLITICO:
House GOP expands attacks on Obama's immigration actions…House Republicans will push a plan to unravel President Barack Obama's executive action for undocumented immigrants and toughen enforcement of immigration laws that would be tied to funding for the Department of Homeland Security.
The proposal not only attacks Obama's latest executive actions on immigration that he announced in November, but reaches back to the 2012 directive that shielded young undocumented immigrants from being deported, as well as a series of 2011 administration memos that changed who should be targets for deportations…That goes beyond the steps that had been under consideration for targeting Obama's latest executive actions…Doing so satisfies the conservatives in the conference who believed that just going after Obama's most recent actions wasn't sufficient.
Leadership, led by House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), has held several meetings with key House Republicans to hammer out some ideas on how to choke off funding for Obama's immigration actions.
And you guessed it right – anti-immigrant Spokesman Rep. Steve King is certainly "on board with the plan…" Not only does the Republican Party prefer to separate families and put our country's national security and safety in doubt, but they are sending a clear and wrong message to Latino and immigrant families: you are not welcomed here.
