House Republicans' Magical Budget Logic

House Republican Leaders have finally unveiled a budget blueprint: a disastrous plan that would strengthen the special interests and abandon seniors and hard-working families.  Republicans' latest "Road to Ruin" budget demands $6.5 trillion in cuts – "the sharpest cuts ever proposed" by the Budget Committee, according to The Hill.

House Republicans' stated budget promises don't quite add up:

How do House Republicans intend to "[secure] Medicare for today's seniors and tomorrow's retirees" with a budget that abandons seniors by ending the Medicare guarantee?

With magic?

How do House Republicans plan to create "the foundation for long-term economic growth" with a budget that devastates good-paying jobs?

With magic?

How do House Republicans plan to build "the strong roads, bridges, and other infrastructure" necessary for a "robust economy" with a budget that cripples investments in infrastructure for the 21st century?

With magic?

How do House Republicans intend to create a "fair and compassionate system" with a budget that increases poverty and erodes our nation's promise of basic economic security for all Americans?

With magic?

How do House Republicans plan to "create a health care system that works for patients, families, and doctors" with a budget that takes away affordable health care from millions and offers no replacement for the Affordable Care Act?

With magic?

How do House Republicans intend to "[open] doors of opportunity and [build] confidence in individuals" with a budget that ransacks our investments in education?

With magic?

Finally, how do House Republicans plan to pass this disastrous blueprint when the Tea Party wing has already rejected it – because it's not savage enough?  Well, you get the idea.
