It's Time to #RaiseTheWage to $12!

Today, Congressional Democrats stood in strong support of raising the minimum wage to $12 – unveiling new legislation that puts more money in the pockets of millions of hard-working American families.  While Republicans continue to hand billions in tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy 0.2%, Democrats are once again taking action to restore the value of work in our country:

This is what it means to #RaiseTheWage for Americans across the country:

• Our bill will raise the wages of almost 38 million American workers – more than a quarter of the workforce, increasing the pay of:
• 21.1 million working women;
• 37 percentof African American workers;
• 40 percent of Hispanic workers;
• 7 million children have at least one parent who will get a raise.

It is an outrage that in 2015, a person earning the minimum wage at a full-time job is still forced to raise their family in poverty.  With more money in hard-working Americans' pockets, we create consumer demand and inject billions of dollars into our economy.  It's time to #RaiseTheWage, and achieve bigger paychecks and better infrastructure for everybody!
