Judiciary Hearing on Effectiveness of Torture

The Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties is currently holding a hearing, "Torture and the Cruel, Inhuman, and Degrading Treatment of Detainees: The Effectiveness and Consequences of 'Enhanced' Interrogation." Witnesses will be Malcolm W. Nance, Anti-terrorism/Counter-terrorism Intelligence Specialist, Former SERE Instructor; Steven Kleinman, Colonel, USAFR, Intelligence & National Security Specialist, Senior Intelligence Officer/Military Interrogator; Amrit Singh, Staff Attorney at the ACLU. As the Wall Street Journal notes today, former Guantanamo Bay prosecutor Lt. Col. V. Stuart Couch was set to testify, but was prevented by the Defense Department.
