Medicare-Ending GOP Budget Still Out of Touch with America's Priorities
June 8, 2011
Americans have said NO to the Republican budget that ends Medicare in order to give tax cuts to millionaires, Big Oil and companies that ship American jobs overseas. When will the Republicans listen to middle class families and not their special interest friends?
From the Pew Research Center poll:
62 percent of Americans approve of limiting tax deductions for large corporations.
The Republican budget delivers tens of billions of dollars in tax breaks to Big Oil and corporations that ship jobs overseas.
66 percent of Americans approve of raising taxes on those making over $250,000 a year.
The Republican budget rewards the wealthiest people in our country with tax cuts.
73 percent of Americans disapprove of reducing funding to states for roads and education.
The Republican budget cuts funding for education—making college more expensive for nearly 10 million young people in our country.
It is clear that the American people want to see the deficit reduced in a responsible way that honors our national values, strengthens the middle class, and preserves Medicare. While Democrats are listening, the GOP continues to ignore their constituents' priorities—advancing their irresponsible budget that ends Medicare.
