More Extremist, Anti-Immigrant Legislation Imminent Says Anti-Immigrant Spokesman Rep. Steve King

The ‘Donald Trump Act' scheduled for a vote tomorrow on the House Floor just won the major endorsement of anti-immigrant Spokesman Rep. Steve King.  There's one condition: so as long as the House Republican leadership brings more anti-Latino, anti-immigrant measures.

House Republicans plan more immigration legislation

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) has promised lawmakers that he'll bring more measures aimed at strengthening immigration enforcement to the House floor later this year, according to a top GOP immigration foe.

In an email sent to GOP lawmakers, Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) details a conversation he had with the No. 2 House Republican earlier this week. During the talk, McCarthy had asked King whether he would oppose a bill on the floor…

King wrote in the email that he would support the bill, but that other House conservatives — who are itching to do more immigration enforcement legislation — would be disappointed.

"Kevin McCarthy expressed commitment to me to bring enforcement immigration legislation to the floor after August," King wrote in the e-mail.  

Americans know that when anti-immigrant legislation has Rep. Steve King's support, it is not good for the country, it is not good for the Latino and immigrant community.  Again, House Republicans are only working to demonize, deport, and criminalize Latino and immigrant communities – lurching themselves even further to the right.
