Mr. Speaker, listen to your Caucus: impeachment is far from a Democratic "scam"
July 29, 2014
Even after third-ranking House Republican and Whip-elect Steve Scalise refused to take impeachment off the table, Speaker Boehner earlier today called the impeachment talks "a scam started by the Democrats." [7/29] Yet statements from the Tea Party Members of the House Republican Congress beg to differ:
- "President Obama is begging to be impeached." -Rep. Stockman
- "...the president has committed impeachable offenses...impeachment is important..." -Rep. Michelle Bachmann
- "[Obamaimpeachment] needs to happen." -Rep. Michael Burgess
- "...we need to bring impeachment hearings immediately before the House of Representatives," -Rep. Steve King
- "...he leaves Congress no option [but to impeach him]." -Rep. Ted Yoho
- "[Impeachment of Obama] – a dream come true…" -Rep. Kerry Bentivolio
- "Congress is going to start looking at it (impeachment) very seriously." -Rep. Jack Kingston
- "The president deserves to be impeached. Plain and simple." -Rep. Randy Weber
- "[President Obama's handling of Benghazi is an] impeachable offense." -Rep. Jason Chaffetz
- "...I'll give you a real frank answer about that, if we were to impeach the President tomorrow, you could...get the votes...to do it." -Rep. Blake Farenthold
A Democratic "scam," Mr. Boehner? Instead of pointing fingers – it's time to take a long look at the comments made by Members of your own Conference.
