NEW POLL: Americans Want a Budget Agreement, Not a #GOPshutdown!

Speaker Boehner and House Republicans may want to reconsider their #GOPshutdown gimmicks threatening the American people and economy.  From POLITICO:

More than seven in 10 Americans said they would prefer a budget agreement to prevent the government from shutting down, compared to just 22 percent who said it is more important for Congress to eliminate all funding from Planned Parenthood, according to the results of a new CNN/ORC poll on domestic issues released Monday.

Lawmakers must agree on the terms of a temporary spending bill to prevent the government from shutting down on Oct. 1, as it did in 2013 over President Barack Obama's health care law.

Over 70 percent of Americans are demanding that Congress approve a budget agreement, but House Republicans could care less about what they think.

A band of conservatives say they won't back legislation financing government agencies unless the bill blocks federal payments to Planned Parenthood.

With time running out, GOP leaders haven't said how they will handle conservatives' demands while also rounding up enough votes to prevent a shutdown.

Congress has only a few more working days left…and there is sharp disagreement on how Republicans should handle it.

…with the presidential race in full swing, Senator Ted Cruz is hoping to make enough noise to be heard over the din of Donald Trump: Cruz and others are insisting that the Senate should pass a budget that defunds Planned Parenthood in its entirety.  In the House, Mick Mulvaney of South Carolina has 31 members in his shutdown caucus.

Time is running out for Speaker Boehner and House Republicans.  The American people are tired of Republicans' unending culture of crisis and failure to govern.  Instead of putting their radical agenda ahead of the priorities of hard-working families, House Republicans need to join House Democrats at the negotiating table and avoid another #GOPshutdown!
