New Session, Same Resolutions from 'No Jobs' GOP

While today marks the start of the second session of the 112th Congress, it doesn't look like House Republicans learned their lesson from a year in the Majority ignoring America's top priority: job creation.

Instead of focusing on jobs this week, the GOP is voting on a resolution trying to force America to default on its debt and would destroy jobs—even though Republican Members acknowledge it is nothing more than a waste of time:

House Republicans want to embarrass President Obama with a vote on the debt ceiling this week, but they could get some heartburn courtesy of rank-and-file conservatives…

[Rep. Mick] Mulvaney said a number of conservative members are frustrated and plan to express that to leaders this week.

"I know that I am not alone," he said…

And while the middle class calls for a full-year extension of the payroll tax cut, the GOP will concentrate on crafting yet another jobs "message" instead of an actual jobs agenda:

If House Republicans are in need of talking points in line with America's priorities, they should try changing their record—and work with Democrats to create jobs, grow the economy, and strengthen the middle class.
