January 12, 2015
Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi announced today that the House Democratic Steering committee has recommended to the Democratic Caucus that Congressman Derek Kilmer of Washington be appointed to the House Appropriations Committee and Congressman Pete Aguilar of California be appointed to the House Armed Services Committee.

"In his short time in the House, Congressman Derek Kilmer has proven himself to be a steadfast champion for working people and middle class families," said Leader Pelosi. "On the Appropriations committee, we know Congressman Kilmer will be a strong voice for bigger wages, better infrastructure and greater opportunities for every American."

"Congressman Pete Aguilar brings a fresh and dynamic voice to the work of the House Armed Services Committee," continued Leader Pelosi. "We are fortunate to have Congressman Aguilar fighting to strengthen our security and honor our commitment to the brave men and women in uniform serving around the world."

The full Democratic Caucus is expected to approve these recommendations at its meeting tomorrow.
