Pelosi Announces More Committee Assignments

Washington, D.C. - Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced today that the House Democratic Steering Committee approved more committee assignments. 'The intellect and leadership of these Members will be crucial to House Democrats' efforts to take America in a new direction,' Speaker Pelosi said. 'Their depth of knowledge will serve as a valuable resource on our committee as Democrats work to increase opportunity and prosperity for all Americans, not just the privileged few.'

Speaker Pelosi also announced that she has appointed Congressman John Tanner of Tennessee as Chairman of the United States Group of the N.A.T.O. Parliamentary Assembly and Congressman Alcee Hastings of Florida as Chairman of the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe (Helsinki Commission).
